Melanoma is the most serious type of skin spot, and is probably the most discussed and publicized. It can suddenly appear, or it can even develop from within an existing spot. Melanoma has many different looks, and it is important to get a doctor's opinion to be sure of the diagnosis.

Don't be scared if you find something that looks unusual to you. Take action! If you have a spot that looks suspicious, visit your doctor to have it checked. Some spots that don't look dangerous can turn out to be a problem, and some spots that look bad may turn out to be okay. Only your doctor can tell you for sure!
