These maps are meant as a guideline for you. There are many kinds of lesions and moles, some dangerous, some are not. It takes an experienced doctor to tell the difference. Only a biopsy performed by your doctor can tell for sure. TAKE YOUR MOLE MAP AND REVIEW IT WITH YOUR DOCTOR!

Lesions and moles can change in many ways. Take your time as you do your skin self exam. Some features to watch for are: Asymmetry, border irregularity, color, shape, elevation, size, feel, sensation (itching), and changes in the skin around the mole.

Be sure to check these areas too:
• Eyelids
• Lips
• Armpits
• Privates
• Behind of ears
• Fingernails
• Toenails
• In between fingers and toes
